This database project is based on the company "Cinnamon Tree Day Camp" located in La Grange New York. Cinnamon Tree Day Camp is a camp for young children where they can develop, grow and explore their needs in individual ways. Additionally, this camp provides exceptioinal experience and activities which support the development for children in younger age groups, socially, emotionally, and physically. The idea as consultants behind this project was to create a database to improve current system failure, time efficiency, and protection for workers and children as it is very important since the focus group of children are younger age groups. Our database shows a new system for the company to improve their data collection of the kids as we wanted to keep a clean database about contact information, allergies, and incident reports.
Most of the information is stored under the 3 main tables: Kids, Employees, and Incidents. Every table is tracking different information as the incident table lists, which has child allergies or information on past injuries. Next, there is a table for employees, which lists the employee's information. This is for security reason's in case the state is checking on our employees. Lastly, we created tables for children, which lists all the information with a portrait of eah child in our day camp. Through this we know the right face to the right child and can increase security when it comes to pick-ups or incidents if for example a new employee doesn't know the name of a child at the camp.
The forms created in the databse are easily accessible for every employee, to add new children, employees or incidents and it can also go back through past records in case the state or parents have any specific questions or want to check the listed data. This database creates a modern way of consistently tracking the data, the forms showing information about employees, children and the related incidents. Whereas the forms are more useful for the employees to check on and the reports are improtant for managers and the state to check. The reports in this database will be supportive for Cinnamon Tree Day Camp as they will be able to make decisions and to have a secure way to check on each incident with employees and children. Overall the database is beneficial for all employees working at Cinnamon Tree Day Camp as they have access to this daily.
